The writer’s strike is now heading into it’s fourth week, although Broadway’s stagehand’s strike, which began almost a week later, is now over. The effects of the writer’s strike are being felt all over the West and East Coasts, and are holding up a progression of many projects. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com Joe Lynch, the refreshingly wild and ultra-enthusiastic director of this year’s WRONG TURN 2 – DEAD END, there are ideas bouncing around for a third entry in what appears to be a nicely profitable direct-to-video horror franchise which began with Rob Schmidt’s original back in 2003. Lynch says that Rob’s film was an homage to horror films of the 70’s (THE HILLS HAVE EYES and RITUALS appear to be obvious influences), his saluted the 80’s, and the third film would be a look back at the 90’s – were they that long ago?!
Right now the film is in the development stage, and should it get green-lit Lynch says that he has an idea that answers the question as to why the survivors of the past films never said anything, and what role the cops play in the action, etc. Should this idea of his be used, he would love to direct the third film. I hope he does, because the sequel had some truly outrageous sequences in it guaranteed to entertain even the most jaded horror fans…
