I think that sometimes I just have a hard time relating to British horror. Every now and then one comes along that really just blows me away like Shaun of the Dead and now EVIL ALIENS can be added to that very same list.

The tale is tried and true, aliens crash land near a backwards town and turn everything on its ear. The film opens with a couple screwing their brains out in some kind of Easter Island like shrine. While they are making the two back monster a monster from outer space comes along and takes them on board. The woman is impregnated and the dude is given the old alien standby, the anal probe only kicked up a few notches.

Full of colorful characters and all kinds of “in” jokes the film skips along at a pretty good clip and the humor and gore flies at you from every direction.

The basic thrust of the story revolves around a crew from a tabloid TV show that has gone to the area at the prompting of the lady who was impregnated at the beginning of the film so that she can tell her story and bring to the world the fact that aliens are among us and they are pissed. The crew of course thinks this all to be more wacko bullshit but are quickly convinced otherwise and find themselves the only thing standing between the aliens and world domination.

Director Jake West does a fantastic job of dishing out the splatter and the action is frantic and well paced. It is not a film that you can easily look away from. West is a talented film maker and he knows how to hold your attention.

My only problem with this one is the fact that the story is just so lame that it is had to stay involved and you find yourself just killing time till the next gore drenched death scene. It makes for a very tiring experience and regreatbbly it also makes for a film that you probably won't want to watch more than once.

We do get a quick glimpse of what Jake West is capable of and the future looks bright for this stylish film maker. Check EVIL ALIENS out especially if you're a fan of over the top horror done in the tradition of BRAIN DEAD and EVIL DEAD just now done quite so well.

The DVD is available in an unrated cut that looks and sounds fantastic.

Here is a synopsis from the official site for the film that wraps up what it is all about:

If you thought you'd seen it all, brace yourself for this jaw-dropping slice of sci-fi horror lunacy that has audiences rolling and gagging in the aisles! Gruesome mutilations, inappropriate body probes and pointy weapons ranging from sports gear to chainsaws populate this gore-drenched, splatstick classic of giddy alien mayhem, the successor to Aliens, Phantasm, Bad Taste and The Evil Dead. Looking for a hot new story, struggling Weird Worlde TV reporter Michelle Fox totes her crew to Wales where residents of a small farming town are reporting alien abductions and impregnations. Unfortunately, their dramatic recreation of the suspicious event turns downright nasty when the real interstellar visitors arrive, and they're hungry for more than a close-up! A no-holds-barred fight for survival ensues, with farmers and TV crew alike falling prey to the ruthless, relentless, unstoppable Evil Aliens!

And there is a pretty good slate of special features as well, check em out:

  • Extended, Deleted, Unused & Unfinished Scenes

  • A Guided Tour of Life Creations

  • Trailer

  • Bloopers and Outtakes

EVIL ALIENS is a fun, bloody romp that gives us some great in sight into the talent of a young director that I think we'll all be talking about for some time to come.

Go get it now!!!
