The Attack on Bus by Drunk Gangster
The film starts with a small family and a young couple moving in public transport late in the night when the family getting out their stop, a bunch of drunks gangster enters the bus and starts to bothers the couple and tries to rape her in the bus an aged woman saves the girl from goons by undressing herself.
The Story Comeback to 1947
Now the film comes back to the year 1947 after India chased independence from the British, the last governor of India Mountbatten hand over Cyril Radcliffe, the job of dividing India into two parts one is India and second is Pakistan, he dragged two lines one is Bengal and another one Punjab. Begum Jaan (Vidya Balan) is a sex worker who runs a brothel linking the towns of Shakarghar and Dorangla. The sex workers in the Begum Jaan’s brothel are a number of girls which is upraised by herself, who were either stranded or rejected by their own families and now they are work for her. The members of the brothel involve an aged woman Amma (Ila Arun), Sujeet (Pitobash Tripathy), a local worker who carries customers for brothel and Salim (Sumit Nijhawan), a gunman who protects them and also has two dogs with him.

They are harassed by local government officer Hari Prasad ( Ashish Vidyarthi), Ilyas Khan ( Rajit Kapoor) and the police inspector Shyam Singh (Rajesh Sharma), who come over and ask all of the members to expel the brothel as it is located on the land that the Radcliffe Line is going through. Sujeet and Rubina ( Gauhar Khan) fall in love with each other.
Begum Jaan’s brothel is managed by Raja Sahib ( Nasruddin Shah), under of which protection they are safe. Raja Sahib pays their duties and taxes to the government. He comes at the brothel with gifts for them and after hearing about their problems, he comforts them of help by saying that he would be going to Delhi shortly and will address the problem there.
A Month Notice to Leave Place
In spite of that, he asks to pass the night with Shabnam ( Mishti Chakraborty ) who had freshly joined the brothel. Begum Jaan unwillingly forces her to sleep with Raja Sahib.
After various failed tries to get Begum Jaan and her team to leave against giving them a one month’s notice as al last option, Ilyas and Hari hire the help of Kabir ( Chunkey Pandey), a notorious killer from Sonapur, to terrorize Begum with her members to leave the brothel. One day Raja Sahib comes to the brothel and update Begum Jaan that his attempts to save her brothel have failed and now she must vacate the brothel. Begun who was having the belief from Raha Sahib is amazed in distress. Begum Jaan firmly tells Raja Sahib, whatever happens, she will readily die in her house like a queen instead of dying on the road like begger.
Begum Jaan Declines Proposal of Masterji
Meantime, Masterji (Vivek Mushran) Laadi’s tutor fall in love with Begum Jaan and he proposes her, unknowing that another sex worker Gulabo ( Pallavi Sharda) holds feelings for him as well. Begum Jaan declines his proposal and tells him to leave in a fit of rage master plan to kill her.
He brainwashes Gulabo to run away from brothel cheating Begam Jaan she run away with Masterji but he rejects her and gets her rape by his friends. That same night Kabir and his team attack the brothel . while Laadi and her mother and Shabnam drive to run away and are attacked by the police Inspector Shyam Singh, who asks advantage from them, but Laadi removes all her clothes in front of him which brings to mind his ten-year-old daughter he cries and tell her to stop.

Begum Jaan and her girls fight with them but they fail. Later Gulabo comes back and killed Masterji, but she was badly beaten by Masterji’s goon and she also died. The goons set a fire in the brothel so many are killed She and her four remaining sex workers smiles while looking at their brothel being set blaze they enter inside the brothel and shut the doors from inside. Begum Jaan and four of them burn to death.
