He Never Died (2015) Review:
He Never Died is the awkward combination of weird black humor and a superhero movie. John is a very strange man with a very obscure past and the ability to… never die. From an acting point of view, famous musician Henry Rollins is at his best here, and he plays the grumpy but good-intentioned weirdo to the perfection. Actually, it feels as if the all movie was built around seeing him… at the expense of the rest.
The problem is that there is not much of a story. Seeing this indestructible guy is funny, and discovering the truth about him gives a reason to watch the movie until the end, but aside from that, the movie is pretty empty. It has an interesting satirist aspect, but considering the topic, it thinks it missed an opportunity to add morale to its story. All in all, that movie isn’t bad. It is different, definitely entertaining to watch, but doesn’t bring much to the horror genre aside from being weird.
