Funny Games (1997) Review:

This definitely one movie that gets you out of your comfort zone. Everything in it is odd, from the villains’ manners, to the way it is filmed (sometimes the characters actually speak to you!) and to the music…nothing is normal in this movie. At a time when most mainstream horror movies look alike, this UFO comes and smashes the conventions. The acting is brilliant. Long silences alternate with horrific scenes to create an emotional roller-coaster that keeps you on edge. The only thing that I personally regretted in this psychological thriller was the lack of horror itself But that is clearly not the aim of this movie. A must-watch for disturbing film lovers.

A psychological thriller about an innocent family as they stumble upon a holiday in hell: Anna, George and their son arrive at their lovely lakeside home on vacation and meet a strange and demanding young man a guest of their neighbors who turns out to have rather violent tendencies.
