Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist (2005) Review:
I read a lot of critics that praised that movie as a clever, captivating prequel to “The Exorcist”. My opinion is however very different, for I found it to be one of the most boring films I ever saw.
I am not saying it isn’t clever, I think the plot is ok and it could make a good telefilm. But there is really nothing happening for almost 100 min (out of 117 min). I found the beginning extremely slow and the question of the faith of the priest bored me to death.
The little bits of action is ok, but be warned that you’re in for some of the ugliest special effects ever seen. I allow myself such a tough critic because the film budget was about 30 Million, and we regularly see better special effects in an indie film with 100 times less budget.
I would have a hard time recommending it to anyone but hardcore fans of The Exorcist. The others should watch the brilliant Exorcist III (1990) instead!
