The great thing about horror is that it can encompass many different things. To some it is blood and guts and grue, to others it is lust and danger and to some it is very tame and just kind of spooky. What I am going to talk about next falls into that latter category.

THE GHOST WHISPERER has aired on CBS for the last few years. It is actually in its third season as we speak. A hit series if you will and guess what? It's a genre show.

I know you hardcore guys and gals out there are thinking”what the hell”? Just calm the hell down. It ain't all about splatter and axes and we here at House of Horrors want to embrace all fans of the genre so if this one don't interest you, go read something else.

For those of you that are still reading we're going to talk about THE GHOST WHISPERER, The Complete Second Season. I watch this show on a weekly basis. Actually my wife and I watch it together. There aren't a lot of shows a horror fan and their non horror fan spouse can share but this is one and we enjoy our time spent perched in front of the TV on Friday nights watching ourselves some soft core horror.

If you have never experienced THE GHOST WHISPERER let me bring you up to speed. Kind of think of a Little House On The Prairie type formula only set in modern day in a city with a lady who can talk to dead people. There is that so hard to imagine?

Jennifer Love Hewitt plays Melinda and woman who as a child discovered her ability to communicate with the dead. She keeps it a secret for the most part with the exception of her husband with whom she shares her experiences. She owns an antique shop in a quaint American town and every now and again a dead person will show up and ask for help.

What follows are 1 hour tales of death, deception, forgiveness and hope. Yeah, the stories are a little corny but they are well written and lets face it guys, Jennifer Love Hewitt is a hottie. This chick is gorgeous and I have no problem staring at her on the tube for an hour every week. If you haven't seen her since her I KNOW WHAT YOU DID days do yourself a favor and tune in. She has grown up well.

This box set includes all 22 episodes from the second season on 3 discs. It is well put together and comes stuffed with a truckload of special features that include:

  • Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 5.1), English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround)

  • All 22 episodes from the second season on 6 discs

  • A Conversation With The Living: Cast and crew discuss season 2

  • Grandview Graveyard: Backstory on ghost characters presented in an interactive graveyard

  • Melinda's Closet: Clothing Guru Joseph Porro discusses Melinda's look

  • Ghostly Visions: Make-up artists go through the process of making characters look dead

  • The Other Side: 8 Webisodes, trailer, and behind the scenes with Mark Hapka

  • Jeniffer Love Hewitt Speed Painting Video

  • Crystal Ball Mind Game

  • Limited Edition Tarot Cards (only while supplies last)

As I stated above, this is a show that horror fans can perhaps share with a spouse or significant other who may not be into the hard core stuff. It is also a great show to get your younger children involved with and start grooming that next generation of horror fans.

The box set is available now anywhere you buy your DVD's.
