Lionsgate is coming out with a whole new roster of DVD titles for next year.  One of them is VIDOCQ, a film shot in 2000 and released in Europe in 2001.  It stars
Gιrard Depardieu and is about a detective on the trail of a murderous Alchemist.  The film has been retitled DARK PORTALS: THE CHRONICLES OF VIDOCQ for the American release.  I saw this film about three years ago at a friend's house on a PAL region 2 DVD and am looking forward to the new disc which will have:

• Audio commentary by film director Pitof and production designer Jean Rabasse
• FX commentary by Rodolphe Chabrier
• Making-of featurette
• Interview with storyboard artist Fabien Lacaf
• Storyboard-to-film comparison
• Apocalyptica music video

On January 9 a film by Nick Palumbo called MURDER-SET-PIECES will be released.  Interestingly, this will be a trimmed-down, R-rated version of the film that was originally released with many extras on DVD before.  Makes you wonder who they have in mind with this release.

Michael Feifer’s film
THE GRIM REAPER is scheduled for a January 16 release.  It's about a woman who
survives a car accident and is then is then stalked by the grim reaper who is trying to take her out of this world.

February 20 brings us ED GEIN: THE BUTCHER OF PLAINFIELD which stars Kane Hodder, soon to be seen in Adam Green's HATCHET.  Ed Gein is the real-life grave robber and necrophile who provided the inspiration for PSYCHO, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, and DERANGED (Review).  He was captured in 1957 in Wisconsin, and died in 1974.  He'll never know just how famous he is.
