Dark Shadows - Bloopers and Treasures (1966)

Plot Synopsis:  Since Dark Shadows first aired on ABC-TV from 1966-1971, the Gothic supernatural series has established itself as a unique and enduring television classic. The character of Barnabas Collins, a guilt-ridden, 175-year-old vampire, brought the show tremendous success. This special release offers a variety of rare and unusual material.

Bloopers - Like other daytime dramas of its period, Dark Shadows was produced live in sequence, without stopping to correct any mistakes. This was before modern videotape editing, so the "bloopers" featured here were all part of the shows as broadcast. You'll see actors forget lines, crew members walk on camera, sets fall apart and dozens of other hilarious mishaps -- plus outtakes.

Treasures - The haunting and melodic Dark Shadows score, composed by Robert Cobert, became a Top 20 album in 1969. Dark Shadows Music Videos combine episode clips with the most popular tunes, such as the Grammyฎ-nominated hit "Quentin's Theme (Shadows of the Night)." Dark Shadows In Salem finds Lara Parker (Angelique the witch), on location in Massachusetts, recalling where the actual witch trials took place. Also included is long-lost footage of Dark Shadows actors appearing on game shows, promotional spots with Jonathan Frid (Barnabas the vampire) and much more.  ~ Amazon.com

We're Going to Eat You (1980)

Plot Synopsis:  We Are Going To Eat You is vintage schlock fare from the darkest annals of the Hong Kong vault, concerning a rivalry between warring kung-fu schools with cannibalistic inclinations. This is a early film from director Tsui Hark, who would go on to loftier projects and international acclaim.  While chasing a criminal named Rolex (Melvin Wong), Agent 999 (Tsui Siu-keung) stumbles upon an even greater evil--a primitive, impoverished village that has resorted to cannibalism. An expert at kung fu, Agent 999 must decide whether he will join his old foe in fighting off the hordes of crazed, masked peasants. We Are Going To Eat You is director Tsui Hark's second film, following his debut, Butterfly Murders, which also explores the horror genre. Without the budget for complicated special effects, We Are Going To Eat You relies on energetic editing (a Hark trademark) and gross-out scenes to move the story along. The gore has a campiness that will appeal to the most bloodthirsty fans of slasher films--in one scene a man is sawed in two, while in another a beating heart is ripped from a man's chest. Comedic elements are added in the characters of a bumbling thief and a cross-dressing male with a voracious sexual appetite. Hark would later return to the horror genre by producing A Chinese Ghost Story and directing Green Snake.  In a nod to Italian horror cinema, part of the score is from Dario Argento's Suspiria. ~ VideoUniverse.com
