Full Story of Dunkirk Movie

Battle of France

During the battle of France in 1940, the allied soldiers go back to Dunkirk. A young British private Tommy who is the only survivor of the German attack. Tommy at the beach finds thousands of troops who are waiting for evacuation and he meets Gibson there, who is busy in burying the dead body. They find a wounded man after the attack of the German dive bomber. Hoping to get abroad they rushed to his stretcher into the hospital ship but are ordered off. Dive bombers sunk the ship hence Tommy aids another soldier name Alex to get out of the water. Later at night, they leave on a destroyer but u Boat sunk it.

Gibson sees this all and he help and saves Tommy and Alex from the sinking ship and bring them back to the beach. Now there is only one weak mole is available for securing deep-draft ships, the Royal navy requests civilian vessels in the UK which can get to the beach. Dawson a civilian sailor from Weymouth and his son Peter set out on the boat Moonstone rather than the Navy commandeer her. Peter’s teenage friend George joined them impulsively. On their way at sea, they rescued and save a shivering soldier from the destroyed ship.

George Lost His Vision

When the soldier realizes that they are heading towards Dunkirk he tells Dawson to take a turn to and tries to wrest control of the boat and in the process of struggle George falls and suffered a severe head injury which resulted losing his vision and renders him blind. Meanwhile, three spitfires cross the English Channel and moving to Dunkirk because their leader is shot down in a dogfight. Farrier, one of the pilot gets command through his fuel gauge is broken. Moonstone faces difficulty to take on those in the water which includes Tommy and Alex too. Peter comes to know that his friend George is dead but the shell shocked soldier lied to him that he is fine. The bomber was shot down by Farrier before his fuel runs out. When he is gliding over the beach he shoots dive bomber and then while landing he crosses the perimeter. he set ablaze his plane and taken prisoner. Royal Navy Commander Bolten who is at beach sees the last British soldier leaves.

Now Dawson returned to Weymouth and being congratulated for saving so many lives. Peter Goes to the local newspaper office and gives an article on the front page and commends George as Hero. Here Tommy and Alex take the train to return back and get heroic welcome in Woking.

Review of Dunkirk

The fantastically directed film is told from 3 perspectives on chronologically. It superbly tackles the narrative and the nonlinear story doesn’t at all pull you away from the intensity of the events happening on screen that doesn’t stop from 00:00 to the last scene. The movie convincingly portrays the feeling of each and every soldier on the beach to the audience. Confusion, turmoil, and fear. The cinematography was breathtaking and I felt anxious throughout most of the run time.

Starcast Performance

All the character showed in the movie somewhere lacks basic depth and that we aren’t given anything to be invested in them. It is like Nolan was trying (successfully) to make the audience care for each and every one of the men on the beach. He should indulge “main characters” to be in the story so that we can see the events unfold from the direct perspective of all of the soldiers, in war films the plot revolves around certain soldiers being in a war and doing things in the war but it’s still about THEM, not THE WAR as much.

Direction and Story Review

In my opinion, Dunkirk is telling the STORY OF DUNKIRK. Nolan resorted more to filmmaking techniques to tell the story rather than dialogue and that is why some people might have had a problem with the lack of character. Some might say there is ‘lack of emotion’ in the film, I believe this to be a completely incorrect statement. What the people fail to see is that realistically there was NO emotion on that beach besides fear and confusion.
