Morbius is a forthcoming Hollywood superhero movie in association with Marvel and Columbia’smovies distributed by Sony. The character developed from Marvel comics under the same name Morbius- The living vampire that Roy Thomas and Gil Kane created. The character was first seen in Spider-Man. One of the most conflicted anti-heroes comes to the big screen with a bang. The trailer was released, and it looks as compelling as it should be. As the central character Morbius, Oscar-winner Jared Leto raised the pitch of the expectation as we have seen him play ‘Joker in Suicide Squad, another super-hit anti-hero movie from the world of DC comics.
Morbius Movie Plot
The story’s protagonist Michael Morbius is ill with a debilitating blood disease, so he tries to develop a cure for himself and the people suffering like him, which leads him to gamble his life in an experiment involving bats that turns him into a bloodthirsty vampire. He gains supernatural abilities like speed, impeccable strength, and healing from injury. Though the power came with a negative side, his bloodthirst and killing people made him wanted on the FBI’s list. In the Marvel comic universe, Morbius is later seen to have a face-off with Spider-Man.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa, who also directed the science fiction movie ‘Life,’ the fantasy flick entered pre-production in early 2019. Jared Leto expressed that playing the character of Morbius was fun, the transformation of a healer to a monstrous killer was kind of Hyde and Jekyll experience, which was paradigmatic. After successfully releasing their previous Sony movie from the world of Marvel universe ‘Venom,’ they moved to produce Morbius, as Sonymovies bring all the story of villains from the spider man verse to the silver screen.
Leto and Espinosa confirmed to work on the project in June 2019, along with actors Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Tyrese Gibson. In the trailer, it was seen the appearance of Michael Keaton. In the 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming, Keaton characterized Vulture, another anti-hero in the marvel universe.

Release Date:
Jon Ekstrand composes the musical score, and Oliver Wood does the cinematography. The project production stopped because of the worldwide pandemic, and the release date got delayed many times. It was planned to be released on July 10, 2020, but then the release moved back to July 31 of 2020.
Again for the COVID-19 situation, it got delayed from March 19 to October 8 of 2021, then finally to 2022. The movie is hugely anticipated among fans worldwide. The movie is released on January 21, 2022, in theatres popularly in IMAX.
