URI is one of the best movie based on surgical strike done in Kashmir by the Indian Army. The URI has become Blockbuster for all time and done a Box Office Collection of Rs.341.75 and the highest-grossing movie for the year 2019 till now. The budget of URI is Rs.42 Cr also it is Vicky Kausal’s first-ever blockbuster as Lead role.

URI Movie Story

The Base of Movie

This movie is based on five different parts. Indian army’s merchant ships in Chandel, Manipur in June 2015 are an ambush by NSCN militants. In response Major Vihaan Singh Shergill ( Vicky Kaushal), Karan Kashyap (Mohit Raina) attacks the militants and killed their leader who is responsible for the ambush.

After accomplishing the strike successfully the Prime minister of India ( Rajat Kapoor) congratulate them all and invite them for dinner. In the dinner, Vihaan requests Prime minister of his early retirement because his mother is an Alzheimer’s patient of the last stage and he wants to take care of her so instead of retirement Prime minister offers him a desk job near her motherhouse and he agrees to that.

Vihan Joins as Integrated Defence

The second part of the movie shows that Vihaan joins his desk job at Integrated Defence in New Delhi and taking care of his mother and spending more time with his family. He appoints a nurse Jasmine ( Yami Gautam) for her mother. This part of the movie showcases a small description of the Pathankot attack.

One day Vihaan’s mother goes missing. Vihaan gets very upset and searches for her mother everyplace he can and blames Jasmine for the incident and tells her that he doesn’t need her for security. Here Jasmine reveals to Vihaan that she is an intelligence agent. It gives the message that why soldiers and their families of special forces were given security because of the threats of northeastern terrorists.

The URI Attack

The third part of the story shows the URI attack, that was on 18 of September 2016 when four militants with heavy arms attacked the brigade headquarters at URI, Jammu & Kashmir at night which results killing 19 soldiers in their sleep. All the terrorists of attack got killed but Karan lost his life in this attack.

Then Govind Bhardwaj ( Paresh Rawal) National Security Advisor gives an idea of surgical strike hence the Prime Minister gave ten days time for a strike. Vihaan Goes to Northern command base by leaving his desk job and there he requests General Arjun Singh (Shishir Sharma) to include him in this operation.

Govind Ropes in RAW, DRDO, and ISRO

In fourth part Govind ropes in RAW, DRDO, and ISRO. Govind meets an intern Ishaan who has made a drone name Garuda with the resemblance of the eagle. So with the help of satellite and drone images, they located the spot where the terrorist doing their activities.

Here Jasmine reveals her real name as Pallavi Sharma to Vihaan. In the interrogation, they get information about the attackers. Vihaan Chooses Seerat to be pilot and he agrees happily. Vihaan starts training the Commandos. Govind suggests painting their helicopters with Pakistani markings to mislead the attackers.

The Surgical Strike

The last and fifth part of the movie it shows the surgical strike. 28th September at night Indian commandos leave for the strike in Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Vihaan realizes that he can’t cross the line of control because of latest intelligence from in Pakistan installed Early Warning Radar. Hence Vihaan decided to reach there on foot which is very risky. But they reached there and successfully kills all the terrorists. At the climax Vihaan, Pallavi, Govind and all the commandos enjoying dinner with the prime minister.

Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala URI is based on true incidents of the surgical strike of 2016 URI attack. It is kind of a tribute to our soldiers. The director and the research team did a wonderful job at making a movie based on true incidents that also topic like this never easy. The movie will keep you on edge as it awakens your patriotism.

Vicky Kaushal is a wonder boy for the industry who has done few movies before URI but unfortunately remain unnoticed but a true talent can’t be hidden for a long time. The ordinary-looking boy Vicky has done extraordinary to the movie. He pitches the role of VIhaan brilliantly. Now people will always remember and recognize him with the line “ How is the josh”.

Yami Gautam

Yami Gautam a model turn actress has done the number of Hindi movies as well as some Tamil, Punjabi and Telugu movies. In URI though she has not much to do but she has done a good job and considered her one of the best acting performances.
