There are few things that beat having a good scare with your significant other before going to bet, and horror movies are ideal for this. However, did you know that there are actually many different genres of horror movies? Here get Top 5 Sporrors You Should Watch.
One particularly fun genre that isn’t as widespread as others is the “sporror”. Sporror movies combine the terrifying elements of classic horror with a sports movie. The end result may be a bit confusing at times, but can also be quite exhilarating.
We looked around and found the five best sporror movies that you should watch if you like sports stories but also enjoy a good old-fashioned slaughter on the screen.
Final Destination 5
The Final Destination series has been around for a long time and has bred five different movies. The fifth installment of the series may be the best in the series, and many of its scenes include gymnasts getting hurt really bad while performing.
If you are into some reality horror, with scenes that could happen in real life without any monsters or vampires, than Final Destination 5 is a movie that will provide you the scare you are looking for.
The scenes in the movie are not as bloody as you may see in some other horrors but are very realistic and they include the kind of thing that could happen to any young athlete while practicing or performing.
Battlefield Baseball
Baseball is a very popular sport among us humans, but apparently, the undead are quite apt in it as well. Or at least that is the way Battlefield Baseball presents the situation.
The movie is based on Japanese manga and it tells a story of a high-school baseball team who plays a baseball match against a team of undead in a battle for glory and survival.
The film is filled with gory scenes, but also funny episodes and remarks by the main protagonists. If you want to find out who wins in the end, make sure to watch Battlefield Baseball yourself. If you aren’t into the gore but still like some thrills, go ahead and bet on cricket or baseball in the real world.
Friday the 13th VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Friday the 13th is one of the most popular horror franchises out there, and it’s no wonder that it finds a place on this list as well.
Boxing is the perfect sport to put into horror and the producers of the 8th part of the saga decided to do just that.
If you have seen the movie, you will know it ends in an epic boxing match between Jason and Julius, and if you haven’t, all we can do is suggest you do. You won’t regret it!
Murderdrome
Roller derby may not be the most popular sport in the world, but it’s the one around which Murderdrome revolves.
In this sporror, Cherry Skye falls in love with Brad and tries to snatch him from his girlfriend. She, in turn, summons a demon to try and steal away Sky’s soul.
Will the demon get his way or will young love prevail? There is only one way to find out, and that’s by enjoying Murderdrome to the end.
Deadly Friend
This one perhaps isn’t a sporror in a classic sense, but it has one of the funniest sports-related scenes in all of the horror, so we had to put it on the list.
The main protagonist of Deadly Friend, Samantha, is pronounced dead and revived by a microchip placed in her head by a mad genius.
Things take a dark turn when she starts having violent outbursts, one of which results in her throwing a basketball at her nemesis Elvira and blowing up hear head. You could say that was one hell of a shot!
