Mother’s Day (1980) Review:

Mother’s Day is a rather stupid and atrocious film, yet a generally entertaining one. It features a family of retarded brothers who, along with their demented mother, decides to torture three poor innocent girls. Each family’s characters are really vicious and too disgusting to be true. They interrupt their fighting, swearing and burping only to torture and/or rape. The character of the mum is by far the most interesting. Her cold-blooded attitude is really unsettling and she seems, in the end, to be the most dangerous of them all.

This probably an enjoyable horror film for gore-lover and those looking for some rather shocking cinema. I personally found it quite empty and had a hard time overlooking the complete absence of a plot, the many incoherences and the characters’ stupid behaviors.

For those still wondering if they should watch it, a good description of it would be a pale mix between The Last House on the Left (the original) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
