Dracula (1992) Review:

With this adaption of the classic Dracula story, Francis Ford Coppola realized one of his most beautiful horror films ever made; beautiful in that sense that your eyes will take their monthly dose of sumptuous horror graphic. This adaptation’s graphics are very gothic, with lots of beautiful clothes, costumes, colors. The bright red of the blood always contrasts with the dark aspect of the image to give a beautiful finish. The red-blood armor, for example, is greatly designed.

As for the story, it is supposedly quite close to the original novel by Bram Stoker (which I haven’t read, hehe). So you probably already know most of it if you are into the vampire genre. Nevertheless, it is beautifully told here, and never let you get bored. The atmosphere of the all film is really intense, the part in the castle being easily the creepiest. The fear, filth, and lust of this film will haunt you for a while after you’re finished with that film.

The look of Dracula himself is quite surprising at first, with lots of makeup and white hair, but it does make him look like a very dark character. The acting of Garry Oldman is just fantastic, as is the performance of the other cinema giants in this film (Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Anthony Hopkins).

Bloody and with his lot of lust, this adaptation of Dracula is a very dark, gothic horror film that everyone should watch at least once.
