I was a little leery of BLADE as a TV show from the moment I heard about it. I know some other sites and watchers of the horror world thought it to be a great idea but I was always questioning it. I purposely kept my mouth shut while the program was produced and tuned in last night to see if maybe they had pulled it off. I liked the opening segment and sat through the first commercial break pleasantly surprised and settled in for what seemed might be several hours of decent vampire action. Unfortunately it all kinds of falls apart after that opening scene and I actually ended up falling asleep before the end of the show.
Sticky Fingaz looks menacing enough and has the moves but you could hardly hear a word he was saying. That mumbling drove me nuts. The story line bogs down horribly about half way through and you just end up wanting it all to end. It is no fault of the actors; they all attempt to take the show seriously. It just doesnt work.
I know, pretty short review but the show really doesnt deserve any more than this. Spike will soon have an open slot on their weeknight schedule as BLADE is going to disappear quickly into the night.
