Bloody-Disgusting scooped the latest information on Mick Garris's Fear Itself, itself a reworking of the unfairly cancelled Masters of Horror. Stuck in limbo following the writer's strike, the show now has a full roster of directors:
Brad Anderson John Carpenter Ernest Dickerson Breck Eisner Stuart Gordon Mary Harron Ronny Yu
Garris himself is not partaking in any directing duties, in contrast to his having helmed two episodes for MoH, "Chocolate" and "Valerie on the Stairs."
Personally, the list is a mixed bag. We're all waiting for Eisner's horror debut with the upcoming remake of Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Ernest Dickerson didn't make much of an impression with his episode of MoH, "The V Word." But it's also cool to see the show nab Brad Anderson, Mary Harron, and Ronny Yu.
The big question at this point is seeing if the directors can make the transition from pay cable freedom to network restrictions without losing the scares. For people like Stuart Gordon and Ronny Yu, whose projects thrive on pushing the envelope, this may prove a formidable task.
