CR: Alien vs. Predator (2007) Review:

This sequel of the first AVP pretty much has the same good points and the same defaults as the first AVP film. Let’s start with the good points which are, obviously, the fight between the creatures. They are pretty cool…but do not bring much surprise, just like in a basic action movie. What turned me off was that most action scenes, and the fights between the creatures, are shot in a very dark tone of image. This was probably done to compensate for poor special effects available but, in the end, you do not get to see the creatures as much as you would have hoped to. In a movie like this, this proves to be as a major drawback.

A great point of the storyline is the appearance of a new race, namely an hybrid between the Alien and the Predator races. And it looks pretty awesome!

Now the bad points of the film are… pretty much everything else. The story is even more nonexistent than in the first AVP, even movies such as Critters 3 have a better plot! In addition, the human characters are utterly lame and the acting really bad. I understand that these characters are here simply as slaughter meat for these creatures but still, interesting dialogues and colorful characters are just was is lacking to have a great film. Thinking back at the first films, the Alien saga had such awesome storyline!
