The Harvest (2015) Review:
By the director of Henry, The Portrait of a Serial Killer, The Harvest might well be this year great psychological horror. It is very much like a modern version of Misery, except with a more twisted and really sick story.
The movie starts casually with a sick boy and its problems, and looks like any drama at first, except that you quickly understand that the mum (a bit like Annie Wilkes in Misery) is really, really nut! As the scenario unroll, the mystery gets deeper and deeper, and the suspense keeps rising until it becomes unbearable in the final climax.
The great acting performances really helps the audience to immerse into the story. Even though the acting of Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, Take Shelter) is flawless as usual, the real star of the show is Samantha Morton (John Carter, Cosmopolis) in the role of the evil mother… she is terrific and gave me nightmares afterward.
Harvest is a very powerful movie with a clever and surprising story and one that I recommend to anybody!
