The nine-episode web series with a runtime of 26-38 minutes is quite gripping out there. Tandav (2021) revolves around the dark side of Indian Politics which showcases power in the wrong hands can be dangerous for the country and young population.

The series features some of the best-cliched troupes alongside larger-than-life personalities. Ali Abbas Zaffar did try to make a dent in the ever-growing Web Series’ realm without needed cinematic grit and robust characterization. There are a couple of two parallel stories that run throughout the nine episodic-parts. They are intertwined with each other, and its plot looks quite promising. The audience has showcased both love and hate for the protagonist and some of the notorious characters.

As the first season in the series, there are no spoilers in the article. A promising Prime Minister dies under dangerous circumstances, and everything goes unnoticed. On the other hand, there is an on-going farmer’s protest that many political leaders do not consider prime. Amidst all the chaos, the performance of veteran actress Dimple Kapadia is what keeps the series afloat. Saif being the protagonist, sparks in certain scenes and places.
The series’s main attraction is the student politics of a fictional college that seems to have been inspired by Jawaharlal Nehru University’s happenings. There are slogans of ‘Azadi,’ a young and promising Muslim politician who gets into jail time without any claim could deliver a chilling bow. There are specific real-life incidents that are portrayed in the political thriller. The plot starts well with a refreshing equation between a father and a son. Devki Nandan Singh, India’s PM, considers Samar Pratap to be his rival as the latter is a dead-in-the-wool politician. Both have different ambitions, even if they are united by blood.

The plot showcases the inner workings of the mass movements and political power. The character Devki Nandan portrayed by Timangshu Dhulia shines as a tall and all-powerful patriarch who knows the difference between rights and wrongs. The first episode provides a tenacious dialogue delivery between prominent characters. On the other hand, Saif’s character of an entirely conniving rogue with evil schemes to reach political invincibility is enjoyable.
Sunil Grover’s character is tremendous; it is uncanny and unavailable to see a comedian pulling a “yesman” character who does evil bidding for Samar.
