Predators (2010) Review:

I’m not sure how to qualify Predators as compared to the original movie Predator. It is what I like to call a “requel”: too similar of a story to be considered a sequel, but also too different to be a remake.

Here are the two good points that should make you want to watch this “requel”. One, it has better special effects than the first Predator. Two, it has a great bunch of actors, including Adrien Brody (The Pianist, King Kong), Laurence Fishburne (Matrix), Danny Trejo (Machete), Alice Braga (I am Legend), etc. If none of these two points convinced you, then you’ll probably not enjoy Predators over the original. The commando being made of individuals who do not know each others, the feeling of an elite team of badasses which was the higlhlight of the original film for me, is gone here. The main actor Adrien Brody fails to convince. Not that his play is bad, but I think it is hard to beat Swartzi performance in that sort of film. Thereee are a few interesting ideas in this one, like the fact that they have been brought inconcious to the jungle to be hunted, and some interesting secondary characters, but overall I have the feeling that the generation who grew up loving the original Predator will have a hard time loving this remake/sequel.

I am sure, however, that those who haven’t seen the original will have a great time with this one!
