Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters (2013) Review:
usually try not to list fantastic/action on the website, so as to keep it straight horror, but to my greatest surprise, Hansel and Gretel was not a movie for the kids. It has witches, of course, but also a good lot of blood and gruesome death.
Of course, it remains a fairy tales, and let’s even say that it is a Hollywood fairy tale, meaning that you’ll have your basic lame story, with the good guys and the bad guys, shallow characters, and the usual happy ending.
This put apart, this film is great candy for the eyes, in a similar way that movies such as “Resident Evil” or “Silent Hill 3D” are. The monster and witches are especially greatly designed, with a great variety of them.
The rest is just an action movie, packed with CGI. I did not especially like it overall, but I must confess that there are some great scenes, including some surprisingly violent ones! Still, this much better than the average fantastic Hollywood crap.
