Eraserhead (1977) Review:
Eraserhead is, in the vein of every Lynch surrealism movie, a very confusing film. It is impossible to understand the first time you watch it, nor the second, nor the third. The film is so metaphoric that all the explanations on the internet actually contradict themselves.
But behind this veil of mystery hides a very atmospheric film. It is very dark and really makes you feel as if you were living through someone’s else nightmare. If you manage to let it go, relax and stop trying to understand what happen, you will experience a movie full of emotions amongst which paranoia, sickness and anxiety were the strongest for me.
The performance of the main actor is remarkable, and you can almost feel the burden of what is happening to him. The other characters are just too mad to be described with words.
Unlike no horror that you’ve seen before (it is barely horror actually), this movie is an emotional train that everyone need to ride at least once.
