As one of the few people who
really liked the new version of HALLOWEEN (play nice!), I am happy (and not
surprised) to report that Rob Zombie’s version will be out on DVD on December
18 in a 2-disc set. The film will be
available in the R-rated theatrical version (full screen in one version and
letterboxed in another version) as well as a widescreen director’s cut that is
some 11 minutes longer. The audio will
be Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks. The special features will include:
• Audio commentary by writer/director Zombie
• 17 deleted scenes with optional Zombie commentary
• Alternate ending
• Re-Imagining HALLOWEEN documentary
• A Conversation With Rob Zombie featurette
• Meet the Cast featurette
• The Many Masks of Michael Myers featurette
• Bloopers
• Casting session footage
• Laurie Strode screen test
I hope that Adrienne Barbeau’s and Ezra
Buzzington’s footage are in the deleted section. I have a DVD-R of the workprint (which is
substantially different from the theatrical cut) and their scenes are in
neither this version nor the theatrical cut.
The disc will retail for just under $30 and the DVD cover will soon be
available to see.
