Alien 3 (1992) Review:

I think many will agree if I say that this third episode of the Alien saga is very disappointing as compared to the first two brilliant movies.

The main turnover may be the special effects. The Aliens still looks very good in close up, because they used classic mechanical alien head and costumes for these scenes. But in some battle scenes, the use of computer-generated visual effects look a bit cheap and ruins the credibility of the creatures.

It is really a pity since it tends to draw the viewer out of the dark oppressive atmosphere that the movie actually manages to build. The best thing in Alien3 is probably the characters, they are all real bad-ass galactic prisoners with a complex personality that actually changes during the movie, the bad becoming the good and vice-versa. Once more, Ripley is also excellent in her role, she really is the incarnation of the strong-minded woman!

The least good of the Alien series in my opinion, but still a very good horror/sci-fiction movie
