Kalank Movie Story
The Story of Satya and Dev
A young lady is dying from cancer Satya Chaudhary (Sonakshi Sinha) living with her Husband Dev (Aditya Roy Kapoor). Now Satya is worried for Dev that how he will live his life after her so she decided to find a companion. She meets Roop ( Alia Bhatt) her childhood friend and tells her to marry Dev. Roop understands Satya’s situation and agrees to marry Dev. On the wedding night, only Dev tells Roop that He loves Satya utmost and he will never be able to give her place to anyone he also tells that their relationship will be only for namesake and it will be a platonic relationship only.

Roop gets sad by hearing this and to avoid this loneliness she takes the support of dance. Bahar Begum (Madhuri Dixit) has trained Roop for dance. Meanwhile, Roop expresses her willingness to Dev to work in her publishing house on which Dev agrees he also tells Dev that she wants to write a story on the situation and condition of the area in which brothel is located and Dev agrees on this also.
Roop Meets with Zafar
When Roop visits the area of the brothel she met a boy there Zafar (Varun Dhawan) who is blacksmith by profession and flirt and jerk by nature. Zafar wanted to take revenge from Balraj( Sanjay Dutt) as he left Zafar abandoned after he ends his extramarital affair with Bahar Begum. Zafar traps Roop to use her to take revenge from Balraj as Dev is Balraj’s son and Roop is his daughter in law.
Roop Falls in Love with Zafar
Here Roop innocently thinks that Zafar loves her but she is not aware of his bad intention so she also starts loving Zafar and simultaneously begins a friendship with Dev also for Satya’s happiness. Satya passed away and before dying tells to forgive Balraj for his illegitimate affair. On another side, Zafar provokes communal aversion in his friend Abdul ( Kunal Khemu) and demands for partition on the basis of religious belief. Dev and Balraj strongly oppose this idea.
The Climax
Balraj comes to know about Zafar’s and Roop’s affair and gets very angry and confronts Bahar Begum and Zafar. Bahar warns Roop and Roop gets very disheartened and feels cheated and she consummates her marital relationship with Dev. During the riots against Hindus and Sikhs, the Chaudhary family decided to leave the place and move to Amritsar with Zafar’s help. Despite Zafar’s bad intention for taking revenge, he realizes that he also started loving Roop. Abdul killed Zafar while Roop and Dev escape.
