The 2000s were the best years; India progressed to new heights of accordance and development. It’s almost nostalgic for anyone who has lived through the 2000s. The 147-minute romantic drama movie is directed and written by Buchi Babu Sana, a debutant in the Telugu movie industry.
Sukumar has reportedly produced the movie by collaborating with Y Ravi. Shankar and Naveen Yerneni. Uppena narrates the story about class in the society which divides people. In the movie, two lovers madly in love with each other are threatened to be away from each other for all their lives. Will the lovers beat the odds in their way of uniting?

The movie is about a fisherman named Aasi who knows only three things in his life, the wilderness of the sea, the woman he loves dearly, and his beloved father. When Aasi was just a kid, he fell neck-deep in love with a girl named Kotagiri Sangeeta, popularly known as Bebamma. Aasi loves Became profoundly and unconditionally. The best part of the movie is that Aasi follows Bebama just like a puppy hoping that she notices him once.
The best part of the movie is that Aasi doesn’t want his story to be narrated like Devadas-Paro, Laila-Manju, or, better yet, Romeo-Juliet. There are times in the movie which make it a little predictable. However, viewers would manage to smile throughout the movie with the sheer innocence from the love story.

The movie’s lead actors are also debutants like the director, and they did a splendid job while portraying the love story. Vaisshav and his female co-lead Krithi were mesmerizing in the movie. In addition to this, the acting of Vijay Sethupathi is immensely flawless.
Aasi and Bebamma, played by Panja Vaisshab Tej and Krithi Shetty, respectively are deeply in love with each other since childhood. However, certain problems come in the way of them getting together, like the division of the cast and Obama’s father Rayanam played Vijay Sethupathi, which threatens the chasm between the young lovers.

Uppena Release Date
The movie’s development began sometime in 2018 where Sukumar Writings became in charge of producing the movie. The movie is set up in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada, which deals with honor killings due to differentiation in the cast. The movie was all set to release last year on the 2nd of April 2020. However, due to a pandemic, the movie was later released on the 12th of February 2021.
