Serious major spoilers lie ahead so proceed only if you don’t care that I give away most of the flick.

Trying something a little different for this review.  I am going to write it in real time as I watch the film.  I’m just bored with writing my reviews the same way and figured, wtf? Why not.  So, here it is my blow by blow “24” style thoughts as I view TAMARA.

Nice little opening graphic and I always like it when the DVD goes straight to the menu screen as opposed to making you click through 10 minutes of bullshit to get to the feature.  King Kong is a case in point on that one.

Kinda boring title sequence going on.  Lot of close ups of witchcraft and dark arts looking kind of stuff which then lead us into the real film opening.  Hot chick walking down school hall way…yeah baby.  Oh Oh, some teacher pupil sex going on, screwing on the teachers' desk.

Okay, looks like we are now having our Carrie moment.  School humiliation, just a dream, knew it had to be.

Star of the film, Jenna Dewan is beautiful.  Even when she is playing the ugly ducking, backwards version of her character she can’t help but to brighten any scene she is in.  Not a bad actress either from what I have seen so far.

The storyline so far has Tamara writing an article on drugs in high school sports that has led the school leaders to start mandatory drug testing on all the athletes.  Needless to say this action has left Tamara’s school chums less than thrilled.  She is now more of an outcast then ever and some of the school assholes are planning her demise.

Jocks are assholes, especially in high school.  Of course I’m only talking about the film world (yeah, whatever).  Introduction of a couple new characters.  The brainy kid and the stoner kid and of course the alcoholic loser dad.  So far a very typical Carrie type of story.  Not bad, but nothing new or interesting.

Seems that Tamara has a crush on her teacher and she just vowed to “make him love her”.  Now she is casting some kind of spell.  Look out teach Tamara is coming…..

Ok, lots of build up and she don’t go through with it.  Now it is time for the asshole jocks to lay their wicked plan.  Won’t give it away but if you have half a brain in your head you have already figured it out.  Not real creative.

Story is moving slowly along.  Tamara just got pranked and is freaking out, beating the shit out of another girl and, OUCH, that can’t be good.

Now they are disposing of the body.  This scene is straight out of I Know What You Did Last Summer, I’m talking like almost line for line.  Oh, wait new twist.  Tamara is back from the dead and she is PISSED.  Couple cool kills, a little PG 13 but not bad.

Now Tamara is messing with them, one by one and enjoying every moment of her new found power and ability to torture her tormentors.  Showing a dude how it felt to buried alive while he is sitting in a chair at school.  Pretty cool actually.

Pacing seems to be an issue, quick kills and then long periods of character stuff that just seems to lead to very predictable conclusions.

It seems that the brainy “Velma” type character is starting to piece things together.  Seeing the ending of the film already, let’s see if I’m right.

Ooo, nasty little vomit scene.  Yeah.

Going to stop with the running commentary now as I don’t want to ruin the ending for any of you that might pick up the disc, I’ve given away a lot already.  The film isn’t bad,  problem is it’s not particularly good either.  Kind of left me a little luke warm.  Not bad, not good, not memorable.

Nothing of any real interest in the special features on the disc either.  Only thing offered up is a commentary track that I didn’t even bother checking out.

Tamara may be a hot chick but she’s not a hot flick.  Pick it up when it goes on sale for $5.99 at Blockbuster.
