One of my all time favorite horror performances ever was Christian Bale in American Psycho but I think I may have found another performance that may just rival it.

Marc Senter, remember this name. He portrays Ray Pye in the DVD adaptation of Jack Ketchum's THE LOST which Anchor Bay will release this Tuesday and his performance is a tour de force of psychotic genius. He plays Ray so fantastically that I will venture to say that his performance just may well be one of if not the best performances ever.

The ending of this film is so crazy and over the top that even if I told you, you wouldn't believe me. Marc Senter, remember the name as he is going to become every bit the star that Christian Bale has become.

THE LOST takes place in small town USA where there isn't much for the teens to do but drugs and screw. We meet up with Ray Pye as he is heading to the outhouse to do his business and who pops out of the shitter bare ass naked? Why, Misty Mundae of course looking as hot as ever and yes completely bare ass nude. She is startled by Ray and explains that she is camping in the area and thought that they were alone in these here parts. She excuses herself and trounces off wiggling that ever so lovely looking ass as she goes. Ray follows and finds out that she is there with another lady. Not believing what he is seeing he hot tails it back to his friends where he proceeds to tell them about the hot naked chick he just ran into and how she is camping around the bend with another hot naked chick. They sneak back to where the girls are camping and things get a little out of hand and folks die.

Flash forward four years and Ray Pye is helping his momma run a small motel in town. He's good looking, well dressed and oh yeah, completely fucking insane. He seems normal enough at first sight but as some folks get close enough to him it is soon evident that he is seriously unstable. A local cop knows that Ray committed those murders 4 years ago but can't prove it but he sure does ride Ray a lot and he lets it be known to Ray that he knows what he did. Ray is constantly on the prowl for women and he's got three that he is after right now. He's kind of dating all three and throughout the middle part of the film his relationship with all of them crumble for various reasons. Ray dives over the edge and what follows is a parade of death that is chilling, scary and very very violent.

As I mentioned above, the closing scene is just completely insane and is some of the most violent cinematic bloodletting to hit the screen in quite some time. This film is unrelenting and unforgiving in its depiction of a man gone mad and just how deprived that humans can become.

This is not a film that is fun to watch but it is a film that you must watch none the less.

It is riveting film making and first class story telling.

Quite a few genre vets pop up in the film. Dee Wallace Stone makes an appearance as does Ed Lauter and Michael Bowen. All perform above average and add greatly to this wonderful film.

THE LOST hits DVD this Tuesday March 18th. Make it a point to find this one. You will not be sorry.
