Got the press release that outlines all you need to know about the upcoming release of BRUTAL MASSACRE from those horror lovers over at Anchor Bay.  Here it is:

BRUTAL MASSACRE: A COMEDY

READY FOR ITS CLOSE-UP

ON DVD JULY 22ND

FROM ANCHOR BAY ENTERTAINMENT

Special Edition DVD features more than 17 extended and deleted scenes

BURBANK, CA – Just when you thought it was safe to turn on your DVDBrutal Massacre: A Comedy, the irreverent mockumentary about the horror film shoot from Hell! The film will be available on DVD July 22nd. Written and directed by Stevan Mena (Malevolence) and boasting an all-star cast of horror film legends -- all in comedic roles -- Brutal Massacre: A Comedy is a hilarious look into the chaotic world of low budget independent filmmaking, as a once-successful horror film director tries to make his comeback vehicle. The Brutal Massacre DVD goes even deeper behind-the-scenes of this cross-genre epic, with a “making-of” featurette as well as 17 extended and deleted scenes! SRP is a seriously inexpensive $26.97, with a pre-book date of June 19th. player…Anchor Bay Entertainment will release

Brutal Massacre: A Comedy is becoming the toast of the horror convention circuit, including recent cast appearances at HorrorHound Weekend, Chiller Weekend and Fangoria Weekend of Horrors in Los Angeles – where the ENTIRE headline cast appeared on stage to discuss the film! Delivering laughs in the best mockumentary tradition of This Is Spinal Tap, Brutal Massacre gives fans of horror and comedy a “Best in Horror-Show” performance featuring such horror and comedy film luminaries as David Naughton (An American Werewolf In London); Brian O’Halloran (Clerks, Chasing Amy); Gerry Bednob (The 40-Year Old Virgin, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story); Gunnar Hansen (the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre); Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker and Theresa Tilly, aka “The Ladies of The Evil Dead;,” Ken Foree (the original Dawn of the Dead), and Vincent Butta (The Pick-Up Artist).

In the film, Naughton plays Harry Penderecki, a once heralded horror auteur who now finds himself on the outside looking in at Hollywood. Though renowned for such groundbreaking horror classics as I’ll Take the Ring Back and the Finger Too! and Sasquatch at the Mall, he hasn’t had a hit in a while and most in the industry have scratched his name off their “A” list.

But Harry isn’t completely down and out. He’s embarking on what he hopes to be his return to the big leagues with Brutal Massacre. Reuniting his longtime filmmaking team, Harry also has the entire production shadowed by documentarian Bert Campbell (Butta). But what starts as a successful convention appearance announcing the start of filming quickly devolves into a battle of Sisyphean proportions to capture even a single, usable frame of footage. Between incompetent special effects artists, temperamental actors, bad location advice, sexual shenanigans, on-set tragedies and the usual budget overruns, Harry struggles to keep his sanity while facing overwhelming obstacles to finish the picture and find himself at the top once again.

DVD SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Widescreen (1.78:1) presentation, enhanced for 16x9 televisions
  • Behind-the-scenes of Brutal Massacre
  • Seventeen deleted and extended scenes
  • Theatrical trailer
Thanks to Dread Central for the artwork.

New Red-Band Trailer for "Stuck"
By
James Van Fleet

Source: Bloody-Disgusting

May 18, 2008, 10:30 pm

Although this is very different from the original trailer for Stuart Gordon's latest shocker, Stuck, the red-band definitely fits in with the newer poster that plays up the exploitation-as-comedy angle.  Check out Bloody-Disgusting's Youtube page for the goods.

I love how Gordon's staking out two different sides of horror, with his Lovecraft tales and his real-world terrors.  Edmond was disturbing as hell, and this looks to continue the trend.  And Mena was arguably the best thing about the Day of the Dead remake (the fact that it ended was a close second), so let's hope she's finding her comfort zone in a new genre.
