Taking certain pictures should be a crime in the 21st century. And a boy (would you call Karthik Aaryan a man, think hard) is a good film because his genes originally belong to a rich family, even if he was transferred to a writer’s residence at birth. Someone who lives in privilege but doesn’t really rise above his poor clerk family genes should definitely qualify.
In particular, the author responsible for this child transfer is called Valmiki. He does it for all kinds of wrong reasons and has no redeeming feature. Don’t they know how wrong this is on all levels or just don’t care?
By contrast, the rich Jindals, who unbeknownst to Valmiki and lost Shehzada, are good enough people – even if they treat the elderly Valmiki very badly. When it comes to the Jindals, the filmmakers pour in acting talent, putting Sachin Khedekar (the father), Manisha Koirala (his daughter), and Ronit Roy (his son-in-law) in the corner.
For some reason there is hotshot lawyer Kriti Sanon, who will never see the inside of a courtroom, but adds some good-looking sheen to Dosh. . She flits in and out of Jindal’s world as potential competition for their son (the same child, originally Valmiki’s, now living a rich life) who is up to no good. Raj, a poor creature, has nothing more to do than drive a toy car around the house after graduating abroad.
There is another villain besides Valmiki (Paresh Rawal) and he wants to use the Jindal cargo ships to do some nefarious things, which the Jindals will absolutely not allow. And that leaves this guy who’s very, very angry and very, very despicable, with a killer umbrella, along with a weapon and some nice clothes and cars.
Shehzada movie is currently enjoying in theatres. The film is a remake of Telugu superhit blockbuster Alaa Vaikundapuram Lo. In that language, the film became a box office hit. Now it’s Shehzada’s time, Karthik is a very dynamic actor in Bollywood and he is perfect for this genre. We recommend movie buffs watch Shehzada in theaters only. Because you never missed a great blockbuster hit.
Shehzada’s movie revolves entirely around the actor, neglecting other characters and the plot in favor of its lead. The actor is confident enough in the ancient tale of changing children at birth and the drive for revenge to transcend it all. However, his character is Pandu, a charismatic, street-smart young man who corrects every wrong that comes his way.
Trivikram Srinivas’ story is as ordinary as the original, saved only by the charm of the stylish Allu Arjun and blockbuster music. The film, which starts as a tic-tac video, is one with songs that are trending on social media to catch the attention of today’s ‘reel-watching’ audience. Rohit Dhawan’s screenplay is in the same vein as Trivikram Srinivas’s film.
It loses the motif of the character worshiping himself throughout, but it serves as an anchor somewhere for Allu’s Pandu to be supreme because of his charisma. Even the fight scenes show the same lack of team R&D in action choreography. Sanjay Leela Banzai’s favorite Sudeep Chatterjee, Sanjay F. Holding the camera along with Gupta is unfortunate enough to copy-paste even angles from the original.
The antagonism in Shehzada stems from Pandu’s struggle to find out where he belongs. However, Paresh is not really portrayed as a ‘true’ villain, just a frustrated man. His deep desire to see his son succeed and punish his enemy’s son is played for laughs. Pandu calls him ‘Bichle Janam Ka Baap (His Karma from Previous Life)’. Instead, the villain role is handed over to Sunny Hinduja’s Sarang, who becomes a plot device to move the story along and give the rest of the characters something to bond over.
Although I haven’t seen the Telugu original, the Hindi film seems to be not too far from the source material. A few things have been updated for the Hindi audience, but this too remains a Hero-driven feature. Shehzada, with its extravagant production design and Pritam’s catchy music tracks, is too loud to make an impact. At 145 minutes, it’s not exactly boring, but it does drag out the parental issue.
