Space Jam: A New Legacy Coming This July

There are many movies that you could consider iconic in every genre, but when it comes to sports movies, Space Jam has to be one of the all-time best. The 1996 mix of live and animated action brought us none other than Michael Jordan to the screens in a comedy that topped all others in its day.

Now, 25 years later, Space Jam is coming back, like Space Jam: A New Legacy is expected to hit the movie theaters in July 2021. It has been a long time since we saw the likes of Bugs Bunny tussle with the best basketball players in the world, but the time has finally come.

Like the original Space Jam, the movie will be half live-action, half animated, which means some hilarious scenes are certain to follow. If you prefer watching movies at home, Space Jam: A New Legacy is expected to launch on HBO Max around the same time it appears in the movie theaters, so everyone will get a chance to enjoy the sequel to one of the most hilarious sports comedies of all time.

A New Generation of Players

The original Space Jam had Michael Jordan play alongside the popular Looney Toons like Bugs Bunny and Percy Pig. This time around, it will be LeBron James and a group of other world-renowned sports superstars who will come face to face with the toons they grew up watching on TV.

Space Jam: A New Legacy will star the likes of Khris Davies, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Don Cheadle alongside LeBron. Like the original movie, many of the main characters will be animated and voiced over by some of Hollywood’s best and brightest stars.

The premise of the movie is quite goofy and fun. LeBron and his teenage son get trapped in a virtual world ruled by artificial intelligence. As expected, the only way to get out is for LeBron to lead the team of Looney Toons to victory against the AI-powered Goon Squad, which will prove to be a difficult task. The gaming site StarPick believes that Space Jam: A New Legacy may be one of the best sports movies and comedies of the whole year.

Among the Looney Toons, you can expect to see in the film are Bugs Bunny and his paramour Lola Bunny, as well as Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, and others. Even with LeBron in charge of the team, the undisciplined and goofy characters will have to overcome many obstacles to come out victorious and get their human coach and his son home safely.

Get Ready for a Space Jam

The sequel to Space Jam has been in the works for many years, but never quite came to fruition, as one obstacle after another made the production cancel and stall for many years. Now, Space Jam: A New Legacy if finally a reality, and we can expect to watch it very soon.

While the actual release date is not yet clear, we know it will come sometime in July and will appear in movie theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. With LeBron James as the star of the movie, we expect a great spectacle and a film that will make the older generations reminisce of their childhood and youth while giving the modern kids a glimpse of what made Hollywood great in the first place.
