Mammootty is playing Devan aka Boss in the film. Boss is shown as a kind-hearted person who lends money to people. But when Prathapa Varma deliberately refuses to pay back what he owes to his boss, the boss decides to get his money back in his style. Prathapa is getting constant backing from his commissioner friend.
They both try to bring the entire empire of the boss down, but the boss has other plans, he retaliates in typical megastar fashion and gives Prathapa the taste of his own medicine. The film Shylock cast includes Meena, Rajkiran, Baiju Santhosh, John Vijay, Bibin George, and Siddique in tandem with Mammootty.
If you would ask me for an honest opinion I would say that Shylock hasn’t been made to its fullest potential. The film is full of Rajnikanth film dialogues that are by and large out of context. Mammootty takes on a complete one-man show, which seems far from reality. The director appeared a bit confused about his intentions like in one instance the film looked like a thriller then came several dismal comedy elements that completely changed the course of the film and finally we got to witness a ruthless revenge story. The bond between the scenes was somewhat missing.
If you are a diehard fan of Mommoothy, the film is tailor-made for you because the only positive about the film was the energetic roleplay by Mammootty.
