House of the Dead 2: All Guts, No Glory is the direct to DVD sequel for the 2003 film, House of the Dead. Both films are based on the hugely successful video games of the same names. In the director's chair for this film is, Michael Hurst and the film stars; Emmanuelle Vaugier (Alex), Ed Quinn (Ellis), Sticky Fingaz (Dalton), Sid Haig (Professor Curien), Victoria Pratt (Henson), James Parks (Bart), Dan Southworth (Nakagawa), Johnny Nguyen (Braxton) and Nadine Velazquez (Rodriguez).

House of the Dead 2, picks up where the original, House of the Dead left off. We find that a college campus is now used as a sort of 'Zombie Central' in order to defeat the spread of the plague of zombies. In an effort to stop the disease, a team of scientists/commandos search for the original zombie, the one that began the disease and all the horrors that have been a result of that infection. That's it.......that's the plot and that's about all that you as a viewer going into this film really needs to know. There's nothing amazing, new or different about this film, it simply, 'is'. Now, I saw the original, House of the Dead, because I am such a fan of the video games and was horrified to see such poor execution, when I thought the end product could have been much better. I'm not really sure where I sit with this film.....I will admit that this film is slightly better than the first film, but only 'just' slightly better. Oh sure, there's plenty of gore and some decent action in this film, but nothing earth-shattering that will make you want to watch or re-visit this film any time soon. I'm no 'gamer', I rarely play video games, but my advice to fans of the game.....spend your time playing the video game and leave the DVD on the rental or store shelves. Chances are you'll have a helluva lot more fun and it will be time well spent.

The DVD offers some decent bonus features that include:

-Deleted Scenes-Four deleted scenes in all.

-Reinventing the House: Making A Bloody Sequel

-Trailers-House of the Dead 2, Alone In the Dark, Attack of the Sabretooth, The Triangle, Fierce People

Now, far be it from me to tell anyone that they won't or they shouldn't enjoy a film......I have my own collection of films that film-critics and fellow fans tell me I shouldn't under any circumstances, enjoy, but I do, so if you have an interest in this film, by all means, check it out......but don't say I didn't warn you!
