It takes a great disc to make me stop what I am doing and "make" the time to sit down and watch it. When todays mail showed up I was thrilled to find The Ultimate Edition of THE EVIL DEAD.
We've all loved this film forever. It is a classic in every meaning of the word and yes it does seem like Anchor Bay comes out with another "new" version of the DVD every year but this one is different, this one is special.
3 discs of awesomeness.
This release is the latest in The Anchor Bay Collection series in which they take classic horror films and give them the royal treatment. It has been an exceptional series of films and THE EVIL DEAD's turn only adds to the already well established reputation.

Yeah, like I was saying, when they say Ultimate Edition, they ain't fooling around.
The film looks and sounds great but it has looked and sounded great on every edition that the mighty AB has ever put out. The reason to pick this one up is two fold. First off, the packaging is fantastic. I love, love, love the "old, folded poster" look and when you open the package up you are treated to a quad fold liner that sports various renditions of the artwork for the film. Also included is a two sided mini poster that just screams to be hung up somewhere.
Secondly, the special features are outstanding. Even if you have seen this film 100 times you still must pick up this box set and check out these new special features that AB has assembled for this ULTIMATE release.
Each disc has it's own commentaries and documentaries and the third disc is all special features that are nothing if not extensive.
So, should you pick it up? Oh hell yeah.
It's a great, must have addition to any true horror fans collection.
The box set comes out on Dec. 18th, just in time for placing under you favorite horror fans tree.

Don't waste your time trying to come up with excuses to not go out and buy this one.l You want it, you need it and it's worth it.
