Tales From The Crypt – The Complete Second Season was release recently on DVD and is a must have for any fan of the show, the genre or just plain old high quality film making. By the second season the HBO series had become hugely popular and began featuring some major star power. The premiere episode stars Demi Moore who at the time was a major box office draw. Also Jeffery Tambor of HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show was on hand.
The season also saw the directoral debut of Arnold Schwarzenegger in an episode titled The Switch. Other genre heavy hitters also came on board for the second season including Fred Dekker, Chris Walas, Richard Donner and Tom Holland. The production values in the second season up hold the same high standard that the debut season set in place. If anything they may be just the slightest bit higher. The writing is still very strong. Actually the writing held strong the entire run of the show. The folks behind this series were having fun and it shows. There is really very little if anything not to like about this show.
The second season comes on 3 discs which also features a Behind the Scenes Shockumentary and also a nifty little work titled Fright and Sound: Bringing the Crypt experience to Radio.

Then settle in with these devious die-monds of die-abolical delight - all 18 uncut (but variously stabbed, electro-volted, haunted, twisted, incarcerated, incarnated, voodoo-ized and even vampirized) episodes from two-riffic Season 2 of Tales from the Crypt! The Cryptkeeper is again your gleefully macabre host for a frightfest of classic E.C. Comics stories involving a for-the-money honey (Demi Moore) hoping for a big, fat inheritance; a cartoonist (Harry Anderson) whose creations come to life (and death); a ventriloquist (Don Rickles) and an idolizing wannabe (Bobcat Goldthwait); and poker players for whom a losing hand could mean exactly that. Ante up for these and more tales. We think you'll agree they're absolute monsterpieces. Special Features: Documentary Interactive Menus Other |
