HELL NIGHT Next on the Remake List

News has been swirling around the Internet about the expected remake of Tom DeSimone's HELL NIGHT, the 1981 horror film that starred Linda Blair and Peter Barton as college students looking to be initiated into Alpha Sigma Rho and, as part of said initiation, must spend the night in Garth Manor, which was home to a family of freaks who were all supposedly killed by the father except for one who may still be alive somewhere in the house. Fraternity and sorority initiation was a common theme of horror films at the time (ONE DARK NIGHT was another nifty film about the same subject), but there's no word yet on what the new film will do except port over the title and inevitably draw comparisons to the original.
Screen Gems, the producers behind the PG-13 remake of PROM NIGHT that successfully opened several weeks ago, will shoot for a PG-13 for this film, since it has proven to be so lucrative.
Could a remake of David Schmoeller's ultra-creepy TOURIST TRAP be far behind?
